For the past few Christmas’s, we have been able to support our families with food and presents, thanks to the kind support of ASDA Wythenshawe. When a relative is imprisoned it can have a direct impact on a families’ financial situation, often leaving families struggling to cope with weekly expenses. The festive season can be a a particularly difficult time but with ASDA’s help many of the families POPS support have a lot to look forward to!
POPS staff and volunteers recently visited the Wythenshawe store to raise further funds for POPS by volunteering their time to pack customers bags. The team spent two days at the store and experienced a great sense of community spirit , with many volunteers engaging in lengthy discussions with customers about how the charity was established and the many ways in which POPS provides support for offender’s families.
The conversations that took place revealed that many people visiting the store had their own personal experiences of supporting someone within the criminal justice system and could relate to and appreciate the work that POPS do.
The event was a fantastic opportunity to raise the profile of POPS and make people aware of the issues that face offenders’ families and we raised an amazing total of £1124.53p!
Our thanks go to the team at ASDA Wythenshawe for their ongoing support and to all the POPS staff and volunteers who got involved.
