Meet our CEO

Diane Curry OBE CEO POPSWhilst I was sat thinking about what to write to welcome you to POPS’ website, I thought back thirty years to when I too was visiting prisons around the North West supporting my then husband, who was serving a custodial sentence. I did not know that I would work alongside my predecessor to contribute to building POPS to be the reputable charity it is today.

I am pleased to report that the work of POPS has helped to bring about positive changes for families who strive to maintain their relationships via fortnightly visits, phone calls and letters, and their contribution to their loved ones progression through the Criminal Justice System has finally been recognised.

POPS was an early advocate for the development of Visitor Centres and the role they play in supporting families.

Families and relationships have always been influential in defining people’s behaviour and POPS will continue to highlight the positive role of the family in all stages of a person’s desistance to crime.

POPS values the experience of families who utilise our services and encourage them to contribute to the development of our interventions at every opportunity. From Board Members to Chief Executive, and every point in between, people who have been affected are involved with POPS.

Going forward, our focus will be on prevention, community support and supporting individuals into employment. We also envisage a creative, innovative and inclusive way of engaging with children affected by having a relative in the criminal justice system.

I am privileged to work alongside a dedicated team of staff, volunteers and users of services, who are passionate about the work we undertake. I hope you find what you are looking for within this website but if not, please do not hesitate to contact POPS directly and our staff will do their utmost to assist you in any way they can.

Best wishes

Diane Curry OBE Chief Executive
