The Book Club, Manchester’s first static dry bar, was launched by POPS in September 2016 providing a social experience for those in recovery and for the general public who do not wish to be around a drinking culture.
Located at 6 Clifton Road, Prestwich, M25 3HQ, The Book Club offers a variety of non-alcoholic drinks, including mocktails, fruit smoothies, teas, coffee, as well as basic, but good quality light snacks and food in a relaxed, warm and welcoming space spread over two floors. Also on the menu; quality background music, live entertainment and themed nights.
Diane Curry, OBE, CEO, Partners of Prisoners (POPS) said “This is very exciting, as The Book Club not only offers a space for individuals who wish to socialise in a non-alcoholic environment but it also provides employment and volunteering opportunities to those in recovery. The Book Club, builds on POPS’ trading arm, 2nd Chance, set up to offer pre-employability support to ex-offenders, their families and those in recovery.”
“The design incorporates an eclectic mix of urban and classic interior with clean lines, creating an inviting, fun and lively place to grab a fantastic coffee, food and non-alcoholic drinks. The building has been transformed to compliment the feel of the neighbourhood and the emerging bar and café culture within the area”
Normal opening times: Thursday to Saturday, 9am – 8pm (until 11pm on event night) / Sunday: 9am – 6pm
