National Knowledge and Advice Service for Families of Offenders

National Knoweldge and Advice Service in partnership with BarnardosPOPS (Partners of Prisoners and Families Support Group) has joined up with Barnardos to provide information, support and training to professionals working with families of offenders, including those working in prisons, probation, voluntary organisations, local  and health authorities.

A two year contract worth £900,000 has been awarded by the Department for Education for the running of the National Knowledge and Advice Service which will share best practice and offer training and support to front line staff and those responsible for strategic development and commissioning.

Barnardo’s Assistant Director Tim Carter said:

“Children of prisoners suffer some of the poorest outcomes in life. We believe this service will contribute to breaking the negative cycle of under-achievement by ensuring the best possible support.

“The service will help children and young people to succeed no matter what their background or family circumstances.”
