Salary: £12.71 per hour

POPS is a Charity set up to support the loved ones of those in prison and on community sentence. The Charity was founded by prisoners’ families in 1988, we currently provide Family Support services in 15 prisons across Bristol, Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire, Leicester, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Yorkshire .

Purpose of the post

Provide practical and emotional support to prison visitors as part of the POPS team, helping to create a positive visiting experience for children through play activities and family events. Occasionally work within the prison environment.

Operate the prison visit hall refreshment service, serving hot and cold drinks and snacks to prisoners and visitors during visit sessions. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards, comply with health and safety regulations, manage stock control and ordering, and carry out cash handling and reconciliation procedures.

Based within the prison establishment, the focus of the role is to oversee the delivery of POPS’ Visitor Centre and Family Welfare Service within the establishment and to work closely with prison staff to ensure POPS’ family welfare and support is embedded and is an integral part of the prison pathways at HMP Manchester; providing information, advice and guidance for prisoners’ children, families, and significant others, throughout the custodial sentence
