Family Services
At POPS we believe that every family deserves a safe space where they can receive the support they need to thrive free from societal stigma and judgement.
How we can help you
We are a charity committed to making a positive difference in the lives of families who are facing challenging circumstances, especially those navigating the criminal justice system.
Whether you are experiencing emotional distress, or looking for practical advice, we are here to provide the care and guidance that empowers families to grow stronger together and to advocate for their own needs. We understand that family challenges come in many forms, and we aim to make every person who reaches out, feel heard, understood, and valued.
Prison Support
POPS’ prison-based family support services are dedicated to supporting families with loved ones in prison, offering the help and resources they need to navigate and cope with the emotional, practical and social challenges that can arise as a result.
Community Support
As part of the Greater Manchester Wellbeing Service, our Family Support Service offers vital relationship support for men and women on probation across Greater Manchester. Our services provide guidance, practical advice, and emotional support to help individuals and their families empowering them to build stronger, healthier relationships and navigate the challenges of the probation process.
Women’s Services
The POPS’ Farida Women’s Centre is a dedicated, women-only space in Oldham, where women can find the support, advice, and activities they need to navigate their journey, no matter what stage they are at within the system. As part of the Greater Manchester Women’s Support Alliance (GMWSA), we take a trauma-responsive, holistic approach to support, providing a range of vital services designed to meet the specific needs of women including those affected by the criminal justice system.
Children & Young People
At POPS we are committed to helping children cope and thrive. We offer practical and emotional support to children and young people, recognising their inherent strengths, whilst providing them with the tools and resources they need to overcome any challenges they may face. Our services are child-centred, family-focused, and trauma-informed. At POPS we understand the difficulties that some children may face, when they have a parent, carer or sibling serving a prison sentence.
Training & Workshops
Whether you work in social services, education, healthcare, or housing, our training can help you understand the unique needs of those affected by a loved one’s imprisonment and how you can offer more effective, compassionate services. Delivered by experts with both lived and professional experience, our sessions are designed to connect you with real-life scenarios and provide real-life solutions.
Your Voice

We believe in giving families a strong and active voice, not just as advisors but as key participants in driving real change. We also understand the incredible positive impact families can have on each other.
That’s why we encourage those who use our services to get involved—whether through service delivery, peer support, or joining our Board of Trustees.
