Volunteer with POPS
At POPS, we believe in the power of community, and our volunteers are fundamental to building safe, supportive spaces for families with a loved one in the criminal justice system.
POPS’ volunteers bring their personal experience, passion and energy to make a real difference in people’s lives. If you’re passionate about supporting families, building stronger communities, and creating positive social change, then we’d love to have you on board!
Why Volunteer With Us?
When you volunteer at POPS, you’re not just offering your time—you’re contributing to something truly meaningful. As a volunteer, you’ll:
- Make an impact: Help families who are often isolated and struggling, providing them with the support they need to navigate difficult situations.
- Gain new skills: Whether it’s gaining experience in community outreach, or administration, there are plenty of opportunities for learning and development.
- Be part of a compassionate team: Work alongside a dedicated group of staff, volunteers, and trustees all committed to making a positive difference.
- Join a supportive environment: We believe in mutual support and will ensure you feel welcome, valued, and empowered in your role.
Volunteering Opportunities
There are many ways to get involved with POPS, whether you’re looking for hands-on roles or behind-the-scenes support. Here are some of the volunteering opportunities we offer:
Family Support
Assist families by offering emotional support, providing information, and helping them navigate the often overwhelming challenges they face when a loved one is involved in the criminal justice system.
Fundraising Volunteers
Help us raise the funds needed to support our services by running a fundraising event or getting sponsored to undertake an activity or challenge.
Trustees
Consider joining our board of trustees the members of which contribute to the long-term sustainability or our organisation through valuable strategic oversight, good governance and financial accountability.
There are volunteering opportunities to suit a variety of circumstances including on site at projects across the North-West, Yorkshire, Gloucestershire and Leicestershire and remotely from the comfort of your own home.
What We Expect from Our Volunteers
We ask our volunteers to bring their best selves to our organisation, offering respect, empathy, and a willingness to make a positive impact. We require:
- A commitment to our mission of supporting families affected by the criminal justice system.
- Reliability and a willingness to follow guidelines and procedures.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- A compassionate and non-judgmental attitude.
We offer training and support to all our volunteers, and we are here to help you succeed in your role.
