Last week POPS held a volunteer event to celebrate the work of our current volunteer team and provide opportunities for interested individuals to find out more about getting involved. The event had some fantastic feedback, building further interest in volunteering for POPS which will hopefully result in some great new additions to the team.
Existing volunteers received thanks for their time and dedication to the many services POPS provide and details of some fantastic new projects were outlined (watch this space!).
The Samaritans added an interesting angle to the evening providing details of their listening scheme within prison establishments, as well as assisting our current volunteers with hints and tips.
A highlight of the evening were the insights of current staff members, some of whom had begun their POPS journey through voluntary positions. Volunteering with POPS can help develop your own skills as well as giving something back to help support and empower our diverse range of service users. There are still plenty of opportunities to get involved, so get in touch!
