In September 2012 POPS was commissioned by Greater Manchester Probation Trust under the Ending Gang and Youth Violence (EGYV) agenda to gather feedback from gang members and their families.

The next six months will see specific family forums established, giving families an opportunity to share their experiences and access support. It is hoped that the forums will also help inform the development of services, ensuring any future family focused work is relevant to their needs.

As part of the process POPS will be hosting a multi-agency event for organisations currently working in this field, to identify how we can best gain feedback from family members of young people involved in, or on the fringe of, gang and youth violence.

The meeting has been planned for 21st November 2012, 2-4pm at Manchester Metropolitan University (Department of Sociology, Geoffrey Manton Building, M15 6LL).

If you are interested in attending please email Joe Malaika (j.malaika@partnersofprisoners.co.uk).

If you are unable to attend but recognise that you have family members who would benefit from being involved and would feel comfortable sharing their needs then please contact Joe Malaika.
